A little bit of prep before your appointment can make a real difference — shorter visits, faster diagnosis, and sometimes a same-visit fix instead of a return trip for parts. None of this takes more than a few minutes.
Clear the area around the appliance
Move rugs, trash cans, pet bowls, or clutter away from the front and sides of the appliance so your technician has room to work and, if needed, pull it away from the wall.
Write down exactly what's happening
Note when the problem started, what you were doing when you noticed it, and whether it happens every time or only sometimes. Specific details like "it stops mid-cycle every third load" are far more useful than "it's not working right."
Find the model number if you can
It's usually on a sticker inside the door, along the interior wall, or on the back or bottom of the unit. Having it ready can help confirm the right parts are on hand before the visit even starts.
Secure pets in another room
Even friendly pets can get underfoot around an open appliance panel or tools on the floor. Keeping them in another room keeps everyone safe and lets the technician focus.

If you're wondering whether to repair or replace, whether the issue might come back, or what maintenance would help going forward, jot those questions down so you don't forget to ask.
One more thing that helps
If the appliance makes an intermittent noise or issue, try to record a short video or note the exact time it happens. Intermittent problems are the hardest to diagnose remotely, and specific timing helps narrow things down fast.
